The Murphys Hotel is the oldest continuously operating hotel in the State of California. The hotel is situated in the middle of charming Main Street and features a picturesque historic saloon and one of Murphys’ top restaurants.
Murphys Historic Hotel, a National Historic Landmark, includes 20 modern and 9 historic rooms located downtown on Main Street even has its own haunted room. You can walk to nearly two dozen wine tasting rooms, enjoy boutique shopping, art galleries, museums, and Murphys’ classic creekside park.
The restaurant decor was recently overhauled by Gordon Ramsay’s Hotel Hell, and was voted Best Restaurant by locals – it’s certainly a favorite of locals and visitors. Wine selections feature local, Calaveras varietals. In warm weather, enjoy your lunch and dinner on the patio overlooking charming, historic downtown. Inside, the saloon has barely changed since the mid-1800s and retains its old west vibe and style with an old wood stove to keep guests toasty just as it was in during the Gold Rush.
