2014 Murphys Open House – December 5th
Every year on the first Friday in December, Murphys celebrates the holiday season with a community Open House from 5 to 8 pm. Admission is free, the streets are closed and we are ready to celebrate the season. Open House is a great time to peruse Murphys’ wonderful shops, tasting rooms and restaurants, see what’s new, visit with old friends, admire the community tree, and appreciate our small town spirit.
Main Street will be closed to allow Santa to arrive with the Parade and light the Christmas Tree on his way to the Native Sons Hall for photos with the kids. Businesses will be open, treats will be proffered, carolers will be singing and the firepits will be blazing so plan to join us this year to catch up with your neighbors and get the holiday season started.
Members of the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance will be offering holiday specials all weekend long!
Stevenot Winery will be offering complimentary tastings. Join them for live music by Jimi Hampton, homemade chili and wine specials.
La Folia Winery will be featuring Artist Ben Teeter of BT Arts on Saturday December 6th from 11am to 5pm. Ben’s work ranges from still life, landscape to sports art! He will be painting and answering questions and his art is available for purchase. All weekend long there will be holiday wine gift pack specials.
Black Sheep Winery will offer free tastings on open house night of three wines.
Lavender Ridge Winery will offer fondue with wine pairings.
Stop by Milliaire Tasting Room and try the new 2014 Christmas Cuvee! We are celebrating our 31st vintage! Dip into our warm crockpot and taste our famous meatballs cooked in Roasted Red Pepper Chutney and Port sauce. Also we will be sampling other local (Alameda) organic chutneys: ginger-carrot chutney, cilantro chutney and an Afghani marinade. They are all delicious!
Frog’s Tooth Winery will be holding a “Meet the Artist” Art Exhibit at our Tasting Room December 5th, 6th and 7th. Local artist, Susie Hoffman, will be at our Tasting Room Friday from 5:00 – 8:00. Her art will remain on exhibit, and for sale, through Sunday the 7th.
