WINE THAT HONORS WOMEN…

CARMESI — It’s a Spanish word that literally means “crimson, bright red, somewhat darkened with blue; purple”. The word CARMESI not only described this mysteriously romantic red wine with just a hint of blue, it is a perfect word to be used to honor the women and the memories of important women past and present. Carmesi honors all the strong women who have inspired and made an impression on all of us. A portion of the proceeds from this event and from the sale of each bottle benefit women in need.DATE AND TIME

Sonny Landreth Concert at Twisted Oak Winery @ Twisted Oak Winery
Aug 12 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Sonny Landreth Concert at Twisted Oak Winery @ Twisted Oak Winery | Vallecito | California | United States

Twisted Oak Winery is pleased to welcome Sonny Landreth to our hilltop in Vallecito on Saturday, August 12th!

When Sonny Landreth was 16, he began experimenting with the slide, “much to the horrorof my family,” he chuckles. “I didn’t have anybody to teach me, so I had to find my own way with playing it,” Landreth recalls. He made his first slide, one he still uses: “I got a handlebar from a bike and got a hacksaw and cut myself a little slide. I actually used it on my new album on the acoustic side; I still favor it for the tone.”

“My jazz and blues heroes—and the time I had spent playing trumpet, flute, and piano—helped push me to reach for a higher purpose in my music. Classical jazz is all about articulation and dynamics,” Landreth says, “and I could take all that and apply it to guitar. I think that helped make me to come at the guitar from a different perspective.”

Playing slide, says Landreth, “gave me a way to combine all these influences. I had to pull it together stylistically to form a concept and to form all these layers of sound.” Landreth lyrically describes the impact of these influences on him, and the key to his own playing: “The sound of the guitar emulates the human voice; all great acoustic bluesmen do this. I noticed that’s what my jazz and blues heroes were doing, trying to emulate the human voice; they’d use the slide as a profound and emotive form of call and response, and this is why I especially I got into playing bottleneck slide.”

Advance tickets are only $30 and can be purchased right here online. Concertgoers will be admitted starting at 6:30pm – please carpool! – the show starts at about 7:30pm.  Admission is $10 for children under 12. All proceeds from children’s ticket sales will be donated to support music education in Calaveras County.

Tickets will be $35 at the door. Please order now!

Dinner will be available for purchase for $15. Check back here for the menu!

The dinner, Delicious Twisted Oak Wines, popcorn & soft drinks will be available for purchase. Please do not bring other alcoholic beverages. Our license does not permit it.

Seating is “festival style”, first come first served – but all locations are good! Be sure to bring your own low back “beach” chairs and blankets. Click here for everything you might like to know about our concert venue.

Please note: Advance ticket sales end at 3pm on the day of the event – or when sold out. After that time tickets – if available – will be available at the winery after 6:30pm. In any case, all ticket sales are final and there are no refunds.

Now, how about some videos? Starting with… Eric Clapton!

Hovey Artist Series with George Haskell,  Reception on Sunday August 13th from 4:30 to 6
